SharePoint 2007 Default Groups
I created a site and decided to use the default top level site Members group since it had the contribute permission. I didn't need any special permissions. I added my users but they weren't able to access the site. I created a new Members group with contribute permissions and added the users and now they were able to access the site. Why did the default group not allow access?

I presume you created the site with unique permissions - i.e. not inheriting permission from the parent site. You can check this out going to Site settings > Permissions page. Hope this helps! BlueSky2010

Hi, You can figure this out in multiple way. However I suggest you to follow these steps: 1. Chcek if the permissions are broken or not, you need to check this at the page library also. 2. Check effective permissions. You can use adminToolkit's securityreportaccount fuinctionality to use it. This will give you the clear idea of permissions a user has. You can download this at: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=14227 I hope this will help you out. Thanks, Rahul Rashu
