SharePoint 2007 Alerts doesn't work
We setup the alert so that a notification email is sent to subcriber whenever there is a change in the libary. However, the alert is not sent to the subscribed user (we have verified that the user has valid email address). The following errors are captured
in the system log. Does anyone encounter the same problem and what are the steps to fix this?

I'd also have a lookt at the 12 hive log files. There may be more useful details there.

Hi Tinh Do,
Event 6398 occurs if any of the following situation is true:
1.
The third party timer job cannot be found, or it is corrupt.
2.
The Windows SharePoint Service timer job cannot be found, or it is corrupt.
To resolve this issue, you can refer to this article and try the solution there:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc561011(office.12).aspx.
I did a lot of search, but found little information about event 7948. Maybe you can solve the problem above first, see if this could solve your problem.
Thanks & Regards,
Peng Lei

I have followed the steps provided in http://sharepointalert.info/2009/11/troubleshooting-sharepoint-alerts-timer-jobs/ and
the alerts worked. Actually, the re-register alert templates action is the fix.
