SharePoint 2007 -People Picker stopped resolving user accounts after patch "February Cumulative Update (CU)"
Hi, I have a SharePoint serve 2007 farm, i was able to find users in one way trusted domains using the stsadm cmds for peoplepicker, after i installed the the patches from the February Cumulative Update (CU) i can no longer search domains for users, i have checked the stsadm peoplepicker commands and they are all still there. i get the following when i look at the logs "Error in searching user 'domain users' : System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8007052E): Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password" i know all passwords are good as they were working, and the search for accounts breaks as soon as the the patch is installed. Going through the logs again i am getting an Exception when search "OMCORE\xy34603" from domain "za.omlac.net". Exception: "The RPC server is unavailable", StackTrace: " at Microsoft.SharePoint.Win32.SPNtDsApi32.SafeDirectoryServiceHandle.Bind(String domainControllerName, String dnsDomainName) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Win32.SPNtDsApi32.TranslateUserName(String name, DS_NAME_FORMAT formatOffered, DS_NAME_FORMAT formatDesired) at Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.PeopleEditor.SearchFromGC(SPActiveDirectoryDomain domain, String strFilter, String[] rgstrProp, Int32 nTimeout, Int32 nSizeLimit, SPUserCollection spUsers, ArrayList& rgResults) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Utilities.SPUserUtility.SearchAgainstAD(String input, SPActiveDirectoryDomain domainController, SPPrincipalType scopes, SPUserCollection usersContainer, Int32 maxCount, String customQuery, String customFilter, TimeSpan searchTimeout, Boolean& reachMaxCount)". I know there are no firewall issues with ports being blocked, as i have another farm on the same Network that has not be patched yet an i am able to resolve all domain accounts in the people picker. Hi Brad, It is a known issue that SharePoint 2007 People Picker stop to work after installing SharePoint 2007 December 2010 Cumulative Update and February 2011. And it is not possible to remove CU without rebuilding the system... Sorry for the inconveniences. Best regards, Emir
