Setup failed to install SMS Provider error in SCCM install. SPNs are fine.
Environment:
Windows 2008 (SCCM box)
Windows 2008 (SQLServer 2008)
I have removed an (originally perfectly working) SCCM installation from a machine following some corruption and I now wish to reinstall it on the same machine. We have a separate SQL Server which I have checked the SPNs on and they are registered correctly
(FQDN & NETBIOS) and in any case as I mentioned, we had this running fine before. However, now I am getting 'Setup failed to install SMS Provider' when I install it.
Is there anything I am missing here?
Thanks

Apologies, just realised I'd missed that and about to add...
At the end there is a line:
'Failed to compile MOF D:\Program Files (x86)Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\i386\NetDisc.mof, error -1'
followed by
'Setup failed to install SMS Provider...etc'
I was able to find this link:

But there was no agreed answer. I do see an entry in WMI for root\NetworkModel but I'm not sure of the implications of deleting this. I have backup WMI in case I am forced to delete if I can't find another answer.
Thanks

I have deleted the root\NetworkModel and all seems to be working now as it should.
