Setup Panel Size on Vista 64

I hope someone can help me from going insane. On a Vista 64 sp1 computer ProClarity loads with a very small browse panel that will not resize. There is a browse panel with only a line and a half with a large enpty panel below. This cannot be resized. Any thoughts?

Hi Dan,

Apologies for the difficulties you're experiencing, there's no need to go insane! Rest assured that thereare only afewreasons why thisis occurring. The most likely of which are:

1) 6.3 has not been tested for use with Vista SP1, some issues have already been reported. Check back here often as we will post when the patch is available.

2) Display settings. Does the issue improve at all if you change display resolution or adjust dpi?

As far as a workaround, my own experience with Vista SP1 (32-bit) was that Desktop Pro was installed and well prior to SP1. It continued to be so afterward, so if it isn't too difficult to backtrack, youmight try installing ProClarity first, then SP1. I tried installing the Professional client post SP1, and it wouldn't complete the installation, so we know that this will be a priority.

I'm sure that this isn't much help, but we appreciate your patience.

Best regards,

Bob

Bob,

Thanks for your reply. I it works fine in Vista 32 but in Vista 64 the sizes are not rendering correctly. Using various video drivers was interesting by changing the resoultion the box would disappear entirely. I tried SP 1 as a fix and it had no effect as did the various SPs that were applied to ProClarity 6.3 to bring it up to 2214. I will try and uninstall and reinstall to see if that will have and effect.

Dan

This is a significant problem to me and some clients that are looking to use proclarity. I can supply screen captures or any information that may be of use. Please contact me.

I will do some testing of this issue myself to see what my results are. Can you provide some additional details? Are you using the Web Professional or the Desktop Professional? It may be beneficial for you to contact Microsoft support to open a case if this issue is of this magnitude for you.

Thanks,

Bob

I noticed this post a while back and have never been able to find a solution. Does anyone know of a solution to this issues. I am using Vista 64 bit and I cannot find a patch or service pack that will return normal functionality to the setup panel.

Please let me know if there is a fix out there.

Thanks

What version of ProClarity are you currently running? If you're not on 6.3.2217 (SP2, available from the MS download site), please test with that version.

I have had the same problem with ProClarity Desktop Professional (including version 6.3.2217.188) running on Vista 64 SP1 and it has been really annoying. Sometimes you can stretch the window and then toggle back and forth between the Hierarchies and Selected Items tabs in the Setup Panel and it will fix the problem, but usually it doesn't.

Today I switched my color scheme from Windows Aero to Windows Standard and then fired up ProClarity to see what would happen. Now when I stretch the ProClarity window, the Setup Panel grows to the correct size with some weird screen-refresh issues, but when you either click back and forth between the Selected Items and Hierarchies tabs or stretch the Setup Panel horizontally, the screen refreshes itself correctly and you can see everything in in the panel.

There is still a problem with the ProClarity Desktop client under Vista 64 SP1, but this seems to at least be a workaround for me. I hope this info can help someone else.

Ben, I've tested this on Desktop Pro and Web Pro 6.3.2217.188, Vista x64 SP1, Lenovo X61 with all of the ThinkVantage drivers installed. The symptoms are as described--the dimension selection portion of the setup panel resizes itself vertically to the point either 1 line of text--or nothing--is displayed. Resizing the entire ProClarity application _sometimes_helps, but I'd say it's completely hit and miss (at the moment, it has no effect). The net effect is that 90% of the time the setup panel is unusable.

I read a post on v-soft's site where their software had a similar issue when a Logitech mouse utitilty was running. I don't have such software, but perhaps a similar situation where there's a conflict with another program? Also Adobe Acroabt 8 Pro had this problem on my system (Adobe 8 Pro x86 on Vista x64 : client windows rendered less than their containing application window) -- Adobe 9.0 doesn't have the same problem.

This isn't a big enough issue for me to use a paid support incident, but ProClarity is likely to be out there for a while yet, and we still deploy new installations for many clients (after asking if they run Vista x64).Since all the majors have 64-bit vista preload as an option these days,I suspect this may affect more and more people over time.

FWIW,
Rob

Having the same issue with Windows 7 64bit. Resolution/work around would be great.

Okay,

Here is the super difficult fix that worked for me:

Close the setup panel using view options.

Minimize proclarity

Close proclarity

Re-open proclarity

Maximize proclarity

Open the setup panel.

Killer, I know.

This worked for my user once...however, when the user went back to the client, it was back to the "can't resize the Setup Panel" situation.

The user doesn't want to have to repeat these steps every time.

Is there a permenant solution available?

Window7, 64-bit

ProClarity version: 6.3.2227.119

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
