Setting up project templates on an umbrella site that can be used on all sub sites
Hi I have set up an umbrella SharePoint projects site, but want to ensure that project templates (not .dot) are only listed once. So I have set them up on the top level, then linked to the template documents from the sub projects sites, the only problem is that when I try to save a copy of the completed template from the sub-project site it doesn't seem to recogne that the documents are on SharePoint and allyopens up the network drives. If I save a high-level template it works fine - why won't it work from the linked copies? I'm using SharePoint 2007. Any advice you can give would be really appreciated.

Hi, Please provide more information ,so I can do further research . 1. How do you set the project template up in the top level site? What kind of project do you use? 2. And how do you link the template documents from the sub project sites? I tried to reproduce your issue in this way . 1. Create a form template and upload it into the form library in the site collection .And then upload the form into sub sites .After editing the form and choose save ,it opens up the network drives. 2. Create a doc template and perform the same action on it. When choose save ,it will point to the location where the doc exist in the sub site . It is by design . If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks,Regards, Rock Wang Microsoft Online Community Support

Thanks for your offer of help - problem now resolved. I had set up the project template, but hadn't set the content management in the template to yes! Dawn Russell
