Setting up external users on SharePoint server
I have been tasked with setting up a SharePoint server on multiple untrusted domains. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that I will need to have a public landing page that will allow external users to obtain a username and password. The problem I have now is that I need to set it up so that those users on the same AD domain as the SharePoint server will authenticate using Windows authentication and those external users will go to the public landing page. DNS doesn't allow you to enter a port though. So how do you set it up so that the external users won't have to put a port in when they try to access the server, but that they will have alternate authentication to the same site?

You can use forms authentication in this case.. You will extend your current web application to create a new one & change its authentication to FBA. Thanks, Chanakya
