Setting up Configuration Manager in remote sites in same AD site as Primary Site Server
Thanks for the quick response. If I replace the AD site boundary with multiple IP subnet boundaries will I lose any SCCM Advanced client funtionality? Can I use a mix of AD site boundaires for all other locations and multiple IP subnets for cases like above? Thanks again!!!

Here is my setup 1 Primary Site unprotected in AD site HOME multiple secondary sites Protected in their own AD sites(Site1,Site2,Site3,etc....) We have one remote location that is setup in the same AD site "HOME" that the primary site is in but has no local servers present. We use a WAN accelerator to help the remote location connect to the AD site HOME for all file server needs, Logon, DFS, User Home drives, etc.. Currently we control the bandwidth from the remote site to the Primary Site server utilizing the WAN accelerator. Is there anything I can do via SCCM configuration that would allow for a secondary site or Branch DP to be setup so I can deploy software and image computers? I'm concerned if I setup a Branch DP that clients from the HOME AD site may try and access the Branch DP over the WAN. I'm also concerned that the clients at the remote site may not always connect to the Branch DP and may still fall back to the Primary Site server. Hope this makes sense :-)

We have one remote location that is setup in the same AD site "HOME" that the primary site is in but has no local servers present. That's not ideal from a design's perspective, as it makes it hard to set up boundaries so that the closest DP will be retrieved. You could replace the AD site boundary "home" with multiple IP subnet boundaries to get more granular control. Then you can also set up a BDP or secondary site (depending on the # of clients and features you want to use at that location (PXE?)).

Hi, You will not loos any functionality by configuring the boundaries as IP ranges or IP subnets. A mix is also OK.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund

Hi - I made the change in SCCM removing the AD site and manually adding the subnet with a new name. I'm trying to veify that the site boundary on the client is taking affect. I'm looking in the locationservices.log file and it looks like it is still looking at AD stating the the machien is curently in AD site "MySite" Is thsi normal or is that another log that will show my manually configured site name"MyNewSite"? thanks
