Setting groups to read only on a site
I created 2 groups "Sales" and "Marketing"
I set these to read only permissions because they will not be able to do anything except view the report explorer/viewer to view thier reports.
I set my user to "Sales". When I log in I get access denied.
Does anyone have links or advice how to give me permission to view the site and set to read only for the group.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Nick,
First of all I am assuming here you are referring to MOSS - let me know if thats not the case.
Did you attempt to access the "Sales" user prior to granting the group read access? SharePoint caches permissions which occasionally means you get an access denied error when the account does in fact have access. If this is the case I would try creating
a new account for test purposes with the same group membership.
Otherwise, I would try enabling access requests for the site (Site Settings > Advanced Permissions > Access Requests - set to your email address), then clicking on the "Click here to request access" link that appears on the access denied page. That
will send you an email allowing you to grant the appropriate access right to the user - which should assist you in troubleshooting the problem.
