My laptop is connected to the printer directly but every time that I turn it off or disconnect it from the printer, I have to set as default my printer again to be able to print. Could you help me to solve this issue?

How is your printer connected to your laptop? To a USB port? To a parallel port?
Did you install a driver prior to connecting the printer for the first time?
