SetSpn Error

Hey Geeks,

I've the below error on the eventlog very often-

Event Type:    Warning
Event Source:    WinRM
Event Category:    None
Event ID:    10154
Date:        8/26/2015
Time:        22:41:40
User:        N/A
Computer:    WAS01
Description:
The WinRM service failed to create the following SPNs: WSMAN/was01.room.com; WSMAN/was01.

 Additional Data
 The error received was 1355: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. .

 User Action
 The SPNs can be created by an administrator using setspn.exe utility.

Hiya,

either it relates directly to the error message, stating that the room.com domain cannot be contacted. If indeed room.com can be contacted, you (or the service trying) might lack the permissions to create SPN's in the domain.

Creating SPN's requires special permissions on the domain. Usually done with Domain Admin privileges or with a priviliged account with the "Read servicePrincipalName" and "Write servicePrincipalName" access control settings in the Active Directory.
