Service Account Setup Tip for ConfigMgr Client Status Reporting
Hello all, I would like to share my experience regarding Service Account setup for Client Status Reporting. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd334661 As part of the instruction, you need to setup a "Service Account" to run the service as follows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd334587.aspx When I just followed this instruction, it failed to start the service and have Event 4625 with reason "The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this machine". It turned out that I need to Set the (Domain) service account to be allowed to "Log on as a service" first then Set it on Configure Client Status Reporting - Site Settings Tab - Client status reporting service account credentials. You have 2 options: Follow this instruction: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc739424(v=ws.10).aspx first then try it again orJust Let "ConfigMgr Client Status Reporting" Service to set it automatically for you: Go to Services - ConfigMgr Client Status Reporting ServiceUnder Log On Tab, manually type in the service account and its password you want to use and save/startThis will automatically prompt "The account domain\username has been granted the Log On As A Service right."Change Log on as back to Local System account and Apply/OKGo back to Configure Client Status Reporting UIUnder Site Settings Tab, Set the service account credential and ApplyMake sure that it doesn't complain about credential, Log On Type, etc.Go back to Services - ConfigMgr Client Status Reporting ServiceMake sure it is startedUnder Log On Tab, make sure that the service account is set correctly I hope this helps.
