So I am extremely new to the idea of a server, but essentially I guess I want something like my own cloud for my computer, where I can have members of my family sign in to this server with a username and password so that they can access specific files, as in they would be to access the ones I allow them to access. I guarantee something like this has already been asked so if you just want to link me to another forum or video or how to site that is completely ok with me but I am in desperate need of help, thanks!

You can go several directions with this.

- Do you want to join all your clients to a domain?  You can enable Access Based Enumeration on a DFS share.

- You could just make local accounts and do typical folder permissions.

Really, you can do this pretty much any way you want.
