Server name mappings in Search, ADFS, Excel Services - problem

I have a problem with search server name mapping (the root cause might be different).

Let me draw the situation: I have a web app where the default zone is ADFS authentication only. This web app is extended and i have there windows authentication only (NTLM claims based) and this is internet zone. It has been extended for search utilization purpose. (yes i know, i might have left the default zone with windows authentication and set internet zone with ADFS authentication, but is this the root cause of the problem?)

First URL is testapp.com (ADFS, default zone) second is testappsearch.com (NTLM, internet zone).

My crawl goes through the content source testappsearch.com. I have added server name mapping so the results should display testapp.com instead of the testappsearch.com

All results are fine, all show up the link on the result page correctly. BUT: there are some excel files (ONLY excel files) for which the link on the result page is showing correctly but when I place the cursor on the file (like i wanted to open it) it is trying to open the file from location of testappsearch.com.

I found those excel files for which i have a problem, when i place the cursor on the file on the result page, i can see the link in the left hand side bottom corner of the page redirects me to the testappsearch.com and part of the link is xlviewer (so Excel services).

Is that the problem with ADFS, Zone and Excel Services? Why search cannot replace the link behind the file in the result page but it shows correctly location of the same file on the same result page?

Please help!

Hi,

As I understand, when trying to open the excel files in search results, it will redirect to the incorrect url in SharePoint 2013.

You could configure the default zone both windows and ADFS authentication.

You could download these excel files and upload these files to check if the same issue will occur.

The article below is about Server Name Mapping and Alternate Access Mapping (AAM).

There is a similar case:
