Server hosting a SQL 2008 app(not db). Would like to place SQL 2005 Reporting Services on this server.
I would like to install SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services on a server that hosts an application that uses SQL Server 2008 DB on another server. Will there be any issues?

Hi, We could make use of SQL Server 2008 DB as datasource in SSRS 2005 without issue, just make sure the user has the permission to read the records in SQL Server 2008. For more information about setting permission in reporting services, please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337491(v=SQL.100).aspxPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.

Khari There shouldn't be any problem. However after installation, you will have two versions SQL library on the server. For example, sqlcmd.exe will have 2005 and 2008 version, you need make sure your old applications still using the right version sqlcmd.exe to connect to MSSQL2008.If you think my suggestion is useful, please rate it as helpful.
