Server Out Of Memory - when downloading 250mb file
Hi,When trying to download a 250mb or a 1gb file to a desktop from Moss 2007 SP1 (in another trusted domain), multiple users receive the error "Server Out Of Memory There is no memory on the server to run your program." When I try it on a server in the same domain, I also receive the error. We use XP / Server 2003 along with SQL 2005. The interesting fact is that when someone tried from home over the Internet, it worked. I have already checked the SharedSection of the registry on both servers and workstations for the heap size.

Hello John, Based on my experience with similar issues, I think this case is due to the lack of memory of SharePoint front-end web server. Actually, Download a copy or Send to option in the Edit menu is not recommended for large file, because Download a copy option opens the full file in the memory of web server. For more information, please refer to Train end-users to work with large files section of the following document: Tune Web server performance (Office SharePoint Server) http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc298550.aspx For your references, there are some suggestions to deal with memory pressure of MOSS server. I include it as following and hope it helps: Stefan Goner: Dealing with Memory Pressure problems in MOSS/WSS http://blogs.technet.com/stefan_gossner/archive/2007/11/26/dealing-with-memory-pressure-problems-in-moss-wss.aspx Thanks!
