Send Mail to Outlook Distribution List fails - the DL has a valid SMTP address and exists as an Active Directory group
This is regarding an SSIS Send Mail Task. I have two existing Outlook Distribution Lists. The send mail task reports success with either one (green box, no errors). But one DL results in an email being received, the other does not. I have tried to compare properties of the DL's/groups. All of the properties I can see in Active Directory and in Outlook look the same (though I am not the admin. on either of those systems so there may be properties I cannot see). Other details : Outlook 2007 SSIS in Visual Studio 2008 If anyone has experienced this or has any suggestions on what properties to check, that would be great.

I suggest you stop looking into SSIS and ask your Exchange Server admin to sift through the logs until he/she finds the explanation for the failure to deliver to the other group. Typically some third-party anti smap tools are at fault.Arthur My Blog

Hi. Just wanted to follow up and say that my issue is resolved. It was indeed the Exchange admin. who fixed it. I wasn't able to get much feedback about the resolution other than "he checked a check box somewhere that said something about authentication". In any case, the DL successfully receives the email now. Tonya Mersinger
