Hi all

We upgraded recently to DPM 2012 SP1 from DPM 2010 going through all the steps we also upgraded the OS on both servers from WIN Server 2008 R2 SP1 to WIN Server 2012. Both the Primary and Secondary servers.

The Primary server is working perfectly without problems but the secondary server keep on losing connection to Primary server agent it will work for a day or 2 and then just stop working if i reboot both servers it starts to work again.

The error ID i get on secondary server for agent are

Protection agent version:    4.1.3408.0
Error:    Data Protection Manager Error ID: 316
    The protection agent operation on (Primary FQDN) failed because the service did not respond.
Detailed error code:    Internal error code: 0x8099090E

Also i get in event log on both servers Event ID 10028

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer (Primary FQDN) using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID     142c (C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\DPM\DPM\bin\msdpm.exe).

I have checked DCOM settings and made sure all necessary accounts have full rights also all accounts and server in necessary groups. i have switched of the Firewall but still problem occurs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

If you are using a WAN accelerator, disabled acceleration for DPM traffic on TCP 5718 and 5719 and DCOM / Endpoint Mapper on TCP/UDP 135.

Else, you will need to take a network trace and see why communications are impeded when the problem reoccurs.

Thanks for the reply eventually we did a fresh install of the primary server and that seemed to fix the issue. I might add we also started getting a few other problems on server and decided Reinstall would be best.
