Searhing in shared folders in Outlook 2013 doesn´t work

Hi,

I Cant search in shared folders any longer. It works fine to search in my inbox but not in any shared folder on the server. Its an exchange setup. Outlook is missing in the indexalternative but i have tried different solutions from google but nothing works. Rebuilding index, repaired outlook  twice and also reinstalled it. What to do?

Hi,

Would you please explain the meaning of "Outlook is missing in the index alternative" to us so that we can understand the issue more clearly?

Are you using online Exchange mode or cached Exchange mode? Do you have the Download Shared Folders turned on under Account Settings?

In some configurations, we are limited to using the Current Folder search scope when searching in a shared folder. This depends on how you add the shared folders in Outlook (via Advanced tab or via AutoMapped) and if the Download Shared Folders options is enabled. If we didn't select the proper searching scope, the searching may not work. For more information, you can refer to the following article:

Understanding Search Scopes in Microsoft Outlook

If this is not the case, please feel free to let us know.

The index thing has nothing to do with it, sorry there. But the problem is still there. When i search in current folder in the shared folder nothing happends. i clooegue had the same problem the day after me and h has also tried to reset the computer to a day before the problem and that worked for a bit but after restart f the comp the problem was back. It must be a setting or an update on the client but what?

Thanks for the update.

I'd like to ask it again since you didn't mention it in your reply:

Are you using online Exchange mode or cached Exchange mode? Do you have the Download Shared Folders turned on under Account Settings?

I ask this because it searches based on different indexing depending on the different settings I mentioned in the question. It will help us to understand the issue more clearly if we know the answer to the question.

In addition, we may also try using Advanced Find to see if it works. To do this, open Outlook 2013, click Ctrl + Shift + F to open the Advanced Find dialog. Click the Browse button and select the shared mailbox, and then check the check box before Search subfolders.

Please let me know the result.

Thanks,

Steve Fan

Hi,

Since you are using Online Exchange mode, the search feature passes the query to the Microsoft Exchange server, utilizing the index available on the server. This issue is more likely a server side issue. Since we focus more on Outlook client side issues in this forum, I'd recommend you post a new question in the Exchange forum for further assistance:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/home?category=exchangeserver

The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
