Searching Dead - Cannot edit Shared Service.... (since removing server from farm)
Problem: Searching is dead on our sharepoint site (no results). Also, when I go into Central Admin and try to edit my SSP to set up a crawl, I am unable to access the SSP Admin Site URL. Possible Cause: When we built this Sharepoint server, we built it with Network Load Balancing for 2 web front ends. One of which was also the app server. We also had a 3rd server for the SQL DB. We ended up having a problem with NLB so we shut down the extra WFE. We thought everything was working correctly, but apparantely the SSP was configured for the IP of the NLB farm, so we can no longer access it. When I change the IP manually in the URL, it gives me an "ERROR: an unexpected error has occured" and a link to troubleshoot issues with Windows Sharepoint Services. So.. the question is, is there an easy way to reconfigure the SSP to fix this? I thouight I could create a new SSP, but when I go to do that, my Web application drop down is blank. Creating a new web app would effectively blow away all my content - right? There has to be a way. Worst case scenario I could rebuild the server and restore the DB, but that seems excessive. Help?

Looks like that got it going. I was able to start a new crawl. 30 mins into a new crawl and not getting results, but ill save any question on that till the crawl is completed. Thanks for the tip!
