Can I get SP2013 Search to search within a set of Search Results ?

Ie I perform a search, get a set of search results back - can I then search within that set of search results and nowhere else ?

There is no out of the box support for this. You could provide the functionality using code by doing further filtering of the results. SharePoint uses query transformations, query rules and refinements to help user target search results.
