Search in MOSS 2007
Hi I'm not sure how to describe this in english so I'll try to explain my issue based on the example: Example: Our bussness came to me few days ago and asked if this is possible, that when they type word "go" in search textbox then SharePoint search will return all documents containing words: - "go" (as requested) - "going" - "goes" Does anyone know if this is possible in standard MOSS 2007 search ? thanks in advance for suggestions/help Mariusz Gorzoch Blog : http://mariusz.gorzoch.pl Twitter : http://twitter.com/MariuszGorzoch Moderator Note: A reply from Alireza was deleted because it was only about SP 2010. Hi, For this you need to update the Thesaurus file of the sharepoint server. Ideally these files (basically they are xml files) are located at: Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\12.0\Data\Office Server\Applications\<Application UID>\Config These files are usually in ts***.xml format along with few others like "tsschema.xml" where *** = short form of different languages supported by sharepoint. For getting similar words you need to update the xml as below (we'll consider your e.g here) <expansion> go going goes </expansion> For farm based SharePoint environment the above location would be on the Index server please have look at following link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361734%28office.12%29.aspx for detailed description. Hi, you need to enable Search Stemming: 1. Search Results Web Part > and then Options and turn on the feature which is called “Enable Search Term Stemming" Cheers, Daniel Bugday Microsoft Community Contributor, Member of Microsoft Extended Expert Team, MCT, MCTS SharePoint, SQL & AD, MCDBA, MCSE + I, MCC Blog: SharePoint By Bugday Twitter: Follow me on Twitter Technet: My Ask The Expert Area On Technet Founder of SharePoint Forum
