What is the minimum interval for manually searching for available updates from Windows Intune Center? There seems to be some sort of restriction since the client won't find available software installations the Administrations web interface shows as pending for the computer in question. Kind of irritating not to be able to just run a manual search and install the software straight away but to have to wait an unspecified amount of time before it works.

There is no minimum interval.  If you make software or updates available to a machine the update should be available via Windows Intune center after a few moments.

If you aren't seeing the software it's possible it's not applicable to the machine or something else is wrong.  I would open a support case so they can walk through your scenario.
