Search can't crawl application at url port 80?

Hello Community

Using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server a UPS Applicaton has
been created (Search, Mysite and Metadata have also been created).

User profiles have been added successfully.

After the Synch is run you can find the user profiles in User Manage Profile.

The problem is that when crawl is run it crawls all of the urls with on errors except
the top level web application at port 80.

When you enter a name in the Search Center it cannot find the users name in the user profile
probably (I think it is because it cant crawl the top level url).

    The error is:

"Access is denied.  Verify that either the Default Content Access Account has access to this repository, or add a crawl rule to crawl this repository. If the repository being crawled is a SharePoint repository, verify that the account you are using has Full Read permissions on the SharePoint Web Application being crawled."

The default access account that perform the crawls and searches are in "Administrator" in the service application and the web application (user policy) and they have "Full Read" and "Full Control" permission.

Therefore the question is why are all of the urls crawled successfully except the top level web appl
url at port 80?

Note: If it does crawl does "Pages" have to be the last parameter of the url on the Search Center url or is it
appended to the end of the Search Center url automatically?

    Thank you
