Search Throws an Error for Specific Keyword

Hi,

We are facing strange issue in SP search we are getting  "Sorry, something went wrong" exception for specific keywords. For e.g when we search for keyword "San Diego" it throws the exception and for all other keyword it works fine.I also tried resetting the index and performed a full crawl but the issue still exist.

Please let know what could be the cause for this issue.

Thank you

Hi,

For your issue:

Make sure the the "San Diego" has not been write wrong.

Try to search with  managed metadata name:"San Diego",  compare whether the issue exists.

Try to refresh the page and compare the results.

Check the ULS log to determine the exact cause of the error. ULS log is at:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

Reply back at your convenience.

Hi,

small suggestion:

Are you doing the search through API? if it is the case I believe the exception is not when you fire the query for search but it may be @ when you process the search result.

Hi Lisa,

Appreciate your response.

What you are referring is Managed Property Search like ows_Name:Value or Managed Meta Data Service .

Since there is no correlation Id for this error I am finding difficult to pin point this issue in ULS logs.

To give you more details..When  I Search for this keyword in Search Results box it gives me "Something went wrong" but when  I apply some filter in the refinement panel it displays the search result when I remove the filter it gives me the exception.

Thank you.

Hi Raj

Thank you for your response.

I am using OOTB search results (Ent Search Center).

it is strange that it doesn't emit the correlation id on the page, but could you check the error by

setting       1.  custom error mode is off,

                   2. debug = true

                   3. callstack = true in  WebConfiguration file .  I think that could help in getting the exact error on the web page.
