Search Service Account permissions on Config DB

Hello,

I would like to know should the Search Service Account have access to Config DB? If yes, could you please tell 'why' as well.

This is the error I am getting which led me to this question:-

Insufficient SQL database permissions for user 'Name: CORP\svcspsinsch SID: S-1-5-21-515967899-097525478-1417001333-65152 ImpersonationLevel: None' in database 'Prod_SharePoint_Config' on SQL Server instance 'sqlspsalias'. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.

The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'proc_GetTimerRunningJobs', database 'Prod_SharePoint_Config', schema 'dbo'.

SharePoint configuration database is used to store various configuration settings like servers in farm, web application names, various security and permissions, timer jobs, backups etc. So not just search, most of the service application pools requires access to config DB so that they can check configuration associated with the service application in reference, initiate timer jobs at scheduled timings etc.

Hope this helps.
