Seagate external hard disk RAW file system error

Have you ever got a RAW file system problem with your Seagate external hard disk? In fact, a couple days ago, I encountered this problem and always was asked to format before accessing anything inside. However, last week, I had transferred many videos, files and pictures of my favorite animated satires to this hard disk and had not found time to upload them to my online storage. I really dont want to search and gather these stuffs one by one again. Do you have any way for me to rescue them back from this drive? Do I have to format this disk to fix that RAW problem? Any answer here could be greatly appreciated!

Moving this to the Windows storage forum - but you basically need to use a 3rd party recovery tool to see if it's something that can be repaired - or open a support ticket and see if the file system is still intact.

Have restored lost drive data back with success? If not, you may try my ways:

Step1. Add no more stuff on this Seagate external hard drive and also doing nothing else to this drive.

Step2. Insert it to computer and also download RAW drive data recovery software to rescue everything back.

Step3. Restore wanted data back and transfer them all to another storage device.

Note: Make hard drive data backups well from now on.

The issue could be due to primary boot sector got wiped out. You could use the Dskprobe tool (Dskprobe.exe) to make repairs by copying the backup boot sector over the corrupted primary boot sector to recover the file system.

Have tried this Seagate external hard disk on another computer or laptop? Get the same RAW file system error?

If it doesnt have a RAW file system error, it could be the problem of your computer. Just consult some experts to help.

But, if it also gets the same RAW file system problem and asks you to format before access, do not format this drive. Before you try to format this drive from RAW file system to NTFS or FAT, you are supposed to firstly rescue your drive videos, files, pictures in case of unwanted drive data loss.

To help you take them back with success, youd better select a proper drive data recovery program to help you. Simply start it to scan your drive and try to rescue your preferred stuffs as many as possible.
