Hi Chaudry, Did you configure the Run as Profile correctly? The step i forgot a few times is to configure the account in the specify devices part of the wizard: So as you can see the account i created is called Access Network Devices. I have documented the steps i take here: http://pageonline.nl/index.php/system-center/49-scom-2012-basic-network-monitoring.html Hope this helps,

Hi Chaudry- I assume you have just one management server and that is the server doing both the discovery and the monitoring? And we have SNMP service installed on the management server (using Server Manager...Features)? You said you can ping from the desktop of the management server to the network devices. How about checking that you can do an SNMP GET from the devices? For example, using the snmptuil utility: snmputil.exe getnext <machine name> public .1.3 John Joyner MVP-SC-CDM

Hi Chaudry Take a look at this blog as it has some troubleshooting steps for network discovery http://www.code4ward.net/main/Blog/tabid/70/EntryId/105/Troubleshooting-Network-Discovery-in-SCOM-2012.aspx Below are two blogs for configuring network monitoring. Just review the steps http://blogs.technet.com/b/rohitkochher/archive/2011/11/26/network-monitoring-using-system-center-operations-manager-2012.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/ptsblog/archive/2011/11/28/network-monitoring-with-system-center-operations-manager-2012.aspx ~Cheers, Rohit Kochher

This is normally caused by the Windows Firewall. Since we don't use the Windows SNMP stack for Network Monitoring in 2012, just allowing SNMP in the firewall isn't sufficient; you also have to add an exclusion for the monitoringhost.exe process as it's running the SNMP stack we use now. If you disabled the firewall, that should have taken care of it though. Is there any firewall that might be blocking traffic in between the management server running the discovery and the network devices? Can you try downloading snmpwalk.exe and testing the command below against one of the devices showing as No Response SNMP in the Network devices pending management view? Download snmpwalk.exe from here: http://www.snmpsoft.com/freetools/snmpwalk.html Then open a command prompt and browse to the directory where you extracted the download and run the command below, where -r is the ip address of the device, and -c is the community string. SnmpWalk.exe -r:192.168.11.1 -v:1 -c:"Community_RO" -os:.1.3.6.1.2.1.1 -op:.1.3.6.1.2.1.2 No need to post the results of the command, just report back if it's able to retrieve the OIDs from the device.

Hello Chris , Please help. Am working with SCOM2012 RC - RELEASED MARCH 2012 - I GUESS ITS THE RTM VERSION Snmpwalk was able to retrive the OIDs from the device (in this case, its a Windows Server 2003). Even before now, i tried another tool (paessler snmptest) other than snmpwalk and the tool was able to retrive the OIDs from the device (in this case, its a Windows Server 2003).Please advice on the next step as I have not been able to Discover a WINDOWS Server using this tool. The objective of my project is to monitor windows servers using SCOM2012 SNMP , especially for PICTORIAL REPRESENTATION OF MY DATACENTER. Orion Solar Winds Can do this, but my mandate is work with Microsoft Scom2012 When I run an Explicit discovery for this windows Server i get this error message:(Filtered out of the discovery) Workflow name: discovery6cd32c04.b426.404a.8818.a56ebdcb71c2 Instance name: SNMP Discovery Rule1 Instance ID: {E86EC284-D2AB-7C9B-C65C-5C50CC12734A} Management group: FidSCOMRCUPGRD Please advice Thank you. eric
