Hi,

Just setting up a third test rig.

Whenrunning the schema update file. I am getting the following error:

03-26-2008 15:59:29> Modifying Active Directory Schema - with SMS extensions.
<03-26-2008 15:59:31> Unable to connect to RootDSE - Cannot update Active Directory. Error code = 1355.
<03-26-2008 15:59:31> Failed to extend the Active Directory schema.

<03-27-2008 10:53:43> Modifying Active Directory Schema - with SMS extensions.
<03-27-2008 10:53:46> Unable to connect to RootDSE - Cannot update Active Directory. Error code = 1355.
<03-27-2008 10:53:46> Failed to extend the Active Directory schema.

This has not happened before, anyone got any ideas?

1355 means "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." so probably worth checking your DC is online, networking is OK etc.

I'm getting the same error message as jamosj. I can ping the dc by FQDN and IP address. Where else should I look? Is there special permissions I have to setup on the DC or something 1st?

You have to be a member of the schema admins group and you have toenable schema changes (when your domain is windows 2000).
You can also try to run extadsch.exe on your DC or use the ldif method.

From the SCCM Site Server / Member Server, make sure you are logged in with credentials that are members of the Schema Admins group. Or you could perform the schema extension locally from a Domain Controller, using credentials that are members of the Schema Admins group.
