Scheduled alerts do not work, but Immediate alerts do
We started out with Immediate, Daily and Weekly alerts functioning normally. Sometime after I ran the STSADM UpdateAlert command, within an hour after running it actually, the properties for Daily and Weekly alerts were suddenly changed to: <Property Exists = "No"> Users stopped getting their daily and weekly alerts, but continued to get Immediate alerts. I ran the STSADM commands to change the properties back to yes, but what caused these properties to change in the first place? I did not see anything documented about this in the TechNet article for UpdateAlert. I'm still waiting on a daily alert to arrive at 4 pm CST, so I'm not sure if changing the properties back was the solution. But I would like to know how the properties were magically changed in the first place.

Hi SharePointDrivesMeCrazy, There should be something change the setting back. However, to be honest, I do not know. I suggest you to check your customized, activated features of the site and site collection. I am afraid I could not give you any valuable suggestions as I could not see any obvious evidence to the cause or any similar case either. Turns out that running the UpdateAlert STSADM command to point the immediate alerts to the right URL turned off the daily and weekly alerts. I was able to reproduce this in another farm. Here is the command I ran that caused the problem: stsadm -o updatealert -url http://mynewportalpage -oldurl http://myoldportalpage
