Is the account you are installing with a sys admin in the SQL instance?
Is the system account of the ConfigMgr server also a sys admin in the SQL instance? (being a local admin does not make you a sys admin in SQL) Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Thanks for your reply. Yes both those things are true. It seems to create the database, and I see a large number of tables. I also see all the roles installed, and have verified security on the created database - it all looks good. I have tried to install
to a different DB server and had the same issue.
After seeing this I downloaded a new copy of the DVD and that seems to have fixed the issue (non-issue)
