Sccm 2007 Client Push Installation Clarification Please
I recently upgraded from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2007 and am in the process of Client Agent upgrades. At this time I've upgraded 200 servers to the 2007 agent. I've done it server-by-server within an "All Windows Server Systems" Collection by Right-Clicking on eache server and choosing "Install Client". This method allowed me to controll traffic on the wire. I want to use the "Client Push Installation" Method under Site Settings, and allow that method to install the agent on new servers as they are built and allow that method to finish up servers that haven't had the agent upgraded yet. Here's the question. If I enable that method for servers, what is the impact on the servers that have received the agent, with the process described in the first paragraph above? I don't want to re-push the agent to machines that already have it. I just want to hit the rest of them. What criteria does SCCM 2007 use when determining whether a server needs to have the agent pushed out to it and what will SCCM attempt to do for servers that already have it? Thanks, DinoThanks, Dino

the client will only install on those that do not have the client installed (looks at the client install flag in the DB)Kent Agerlund | My blogs: blog.coretech.dk/kea and SCUG.dk/ | Twitter: @Agerlund | Linkedin: Kent Agerlund

You do NOT need to go into the database. If the client is listed with YES in the console then ConfigMgr will ignore the client in the client push process.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: blog.coretech.dk/kea and SCUG.dk/ | Twitter: @Agerlund | Linkedin: Kent Agerlund

When Configuration Manager 2007 client software is installed on a computer, the client record in the site database is flagged with an installed status. The client record in the database maintains the installed status even if the Configuration Manager 2007 client software is later uninstalled.
