Saving site as template error

Hi,

I try to save site as template and get error:

The file path is too long: '.......pdf'. Please make folder or file names shorter in the site and then try exporting the site again.

Is it passible to create template without modify file name?

Hi Gerardas,

In SharePoint, a URL that contains more than 260 characters is not supported. Additionally, a URL that contains one or more of the following components is not supported:  A folder name that has more than 256 UCS-2 characters; A file name that has more than 128 characters.

This is by design that a URL cannot be too long in SharePoint.

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Ff919564%28v=office.14%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

So to be able to save the site as template, you need to modify the path for the file, such as folder path or file name.

Best regards,

Victoria

Hi Gerardas,

Could you please give an example of the URL of the files?

And is there any error when you access the file by typing the full URL of the file in the browser?

Thanks,

Victoria
