Saving Page Content... very slow
When navigating away from a publishing page that is in edit modethe browser displays "Saving Page Content..." in the status bar which can take up to 2 minutes to complete before asking for confirmation to not save the page. Of course if i choose to publish the page there is no wait time, but there must be something up when you have to wait so long to move a way from a page you no longer want to save. Discarding the check out also avoids the wait time.Any clues to make this snappier beside publishing the page or discarding the check out.JohnH

Hi Please follow Andre Lages suggestion and read the document. Performance monitor is also a good tool to help you analyze the performance web servers. You can do a stress test on your Web Front End Server. 1. Start-->Run-->perfmon 2. Left Pane --> Performance Logs and Alerts --> Right click on Counter Logs --> New Log Settings 3. Type in the name of the Log 4. Add Counters 5. When you select counters, you need to focus on the parameters below: a. *Processb. *Processorc. *Memoryd. *Web Servicee. *Internet Information Services Globalf. *.NET CLR Datag. *.NET CLR Exceptionsh. *.NET CLR Interopi. *.NET CLR Jitj. *.NET CLR Loadingk. *.NET CLR LocksAndThreadsl. *.NET CLR Memorym. *.NET CLR Networkingn. *.NET CLR Remotingo. *.NET CLR Securityp. *ASP.NETq. *ASP.NET Applications When you do the stress test, please also keep monitor the CPU usage and Memory usage on the SQL Server to see if there is any high CPU or high Memory issue occurs. Hope this helps. Lu Zou

I've noticed this before -- I think it is just a case of "don't do that"You can certainly try all of the steps outlined above if you wish. I've never looked into why it takes so long to save the page when you navigate away vs just publishing/checking in or discarding a check out though. If you ever figure it out please let us know, but I suspect it is just how the product works :-(John SharePoint911: SharePoint Consulting Blog: http://www.rossonmoss.com Twitter: JohnRossJr MOSS Explained: An Information Workers Deep Dive into Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

Hi John. You're using IE8 and it's a known issue. To solve it, just disable native XMLHTTP support (by unchecking the box under you browser's Advanced settings).http://sadomovalex.blogspot.com/2010/03/sharepoint-ie8-slow-down-in-page-edit.htmlEvery time I get a new workstation to work on, this is the first thing I check for.BradBrad Saide bsaide[replace with @]exemail.com.au http://sharepointblogs.spaces.live.com
