SaherPOint 2013 : Support for 10 million documents , RBS or SQL?

Dear all,

I have a client who has around 10 million documents to be scanned and store in SharePoint.

We are planning to go for document Set, (each physical file has an average of 100 pages and there are 100,000 file), that is there shall be 100, 000 document sets in SharePoint and each document set will have an average of 100 scanned documents.

What I am asking are:

-Is it feasible with SharePoint to support that amount of documents

-Should we go for RBS or SQL server itself?. (my client prefers storing in the NTFS)

-Can anyone tell me what is the compression ratio when storing a document in SharePoint whether SQL database or RBS?

Any help/guide would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks & Regards

Vinay

Hi,

For the large data storage requirement as in your scenario, it is recommended to use Remote BLOB Storage (RBS) and SQL Server to optimize database storage resources:
