SUP Sync Failure

Hi,

We are experiencing a problem with SUP synchronisation. We run the sync every night and it seems to synchronise fine, however on its first run it always seems to fail. It will synchronise everything then fail on "SMS performing cleanup" and give error "Sync Failed: The operation has timed out. Source: Microsoft.UpdateServices.Internal.DatabaseAccess.ApiRemotingCompressionProxy.GetWebResponse"

Then it will retry after 60 minutes and complete perfectly fine.

In attempts to resolve the issue with have run the WSUSDBMaintenance script against the Database, in order to index the database and we have also ran a server cleanup from the WSUS console. We are wary of reinstalling WSUS and the SUP role because we have alot of custom ADRs, Deployment Packages and Software Update Groups and we are reluctant to have to recreate these.

Can anyone advise on what we might try before completely reinstalling everything?

Many Thanks

Joseph

Hey there,

Not sure if this could be the culprit giving you sync problems but maybe its IIS related with assigned memory usage etc.

did a blogpost on something similar - http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/wsyncmgr-log-the-request-failed-with-http-status-503/

maybe it could help.

Hi Henrick,

Unfortunately, this hasn't resolved the problem.

Any chance you might have any further suggestions?

Kind Regards

Joseph

Yes, I know this is an old post, but Im trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?

BTW, your screenshot is so small it is impossible to read.

Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) as they can work with you to solve this problem.

I raised it with MPN and CSS. It was network related and it was not really causing any problems, I left it be.

Cheers though
