This means that the user or group name doesn't exist in the active directory. Make sure that you haven't mis spelled the name, or that the user name exists. If the user doesn't exist in the active directory try giving full email address like testname@mymail.com. Also verify that correct username and password are used for the execution account of SSRS configuration manager.

Start the SSRS configuration tool (see link below), you will need appropriate permissions for this operation. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156305.aspx The user account and password you specify in the Email settings page should have permissions to send email using SMTP server.

I got the same errors but not always. The issue is random. The RS sometimes managed to send the same report via email subscription sometimes I got the same error message despite the fact the same configuration and accounts. Any idea ? thanks, Sedat Duztas SQL DBA and BI Specialist ,NETAS
