SSRS doesn't page the report correctly.
Hello, I use SSRS 2008 and Report Builder 2. I created a report against AdventureWorksDW2008. Unfortunately, the first page is blank and all data are printed on the second page. I want the report to print some data on the first page and the rest on the second one. Is it doable? I uploaded Test Report.rdl and Test Report.pdf here: http://cid-527f6c5d2a176ca4.office.live.com/browse.aspx/Test%20Report?Bsrc=EMSHYH&Bpub=SN.Notifications Thanks. Thanks. Changing Can Grow propperty of Test Report text box to false didn't help. Why would it help? Also, can grow functionality is quite important. Why would I want to sacrifice it? Thanks. Thanks. Igor -Remember to mark as an answer if this post has helped you.

Hi Igor, I have checked the report you uploaded in sky drive. The unexpected pagebreak is caused by using sub table in the main table. By generally, when export report to PDF, if the sub table or subreport cannot fit in the remaining space in the first page, it will be forced to start in a new page. Since this behavior is by design, as a workaround, we can move elements in the sub table to the main table to keep only a single table without nested. We appreciate for your understanding. If you have any question, please feel free to ask. Thanks, Tony ChainPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help

Hi Tony, I didn't try to design an extraordinary complex report. I uploaded a simple free form report, which consists of a list data region, text box and a tablix. Similar report is described in chapter 5.3 of "Applied MS SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services" ISBN 978-0-9766353-1-4. Please, suggest how would I design a statement like report, when for each customer I have to print multiple transactions occurred during, say, the last month? We have customers whose activity for any given period of time can be described by 5 different types of transactions. Every transaction type can be presented by a separate tablix with unique number of columns. So I create a list data region, provide grouping by customer. Then drop a text box for a customer number and name in the list. Then add 5 tablixes in the list. The problem I reported can be replicated by not only exporting the report to PDF, but also by switching the report to print preview mode. So, it's not export to PDF related. Thanks. Igor Thanks. Hi Igor, Thank you for detailed description of your requirement. As I mentioned in the previous reply, this problem is caused by using the Tablix nested in the List data region. In order to avoid the situation that all data are printed on the next page, we need to use only one Tablix with nested grouping instead of using nested data region. For example, based on your requirement we can use only one Tablix and configure its Grouping Hierarchy like: Customer -> Transaction Type -> Transaction Details. For your reference, I also modify the sample report you posted, it is available at: http://cid-1e189c82ae92dfd8.office.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/Reporting%20Services/Test%20Report%20%5E5Modified%5E6.rdl Thanks, Tony Chain Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help
