SSRS Speghetti Diagram / Chart
Has anyone heard of a chart / diagram component for SSRS that would generate a spaghetti diagram between related objects? I'm interested in showing dependencies between objects. Each node could be represented by a box, circle, graphic, etc. Where a relationship exists with another object, a line would be drawn between the two objects. I tried searching this forum and only found someone asking about using spaghetti diagrams with had set geographic points. In this case, there would be no set coordinates for each object's point (or node). This is something I would hope could automatically position nodes throughout the chart area and draw lines in between. You'd think this would be a good charting component to add to SSRS. It would be great for dependency illustrations, network mapping, etc. Here's a crude example of what I had in mind I put together in Visio of application / system dependencies. The positioning of each node could definitely be improved: Thanks in advance! -Chris

Hi TualChris, In Reporting Services, we can define a data source view for a report model. The data source view is a logical data model based on one or more data sources, and the .dsv file describes the tables, their contents, and the relationships between them in terms of XML. For example, I designed a simple data source view in my Report Model Projdect: For more information about Defining a Data Source View and Creating a Report Model Project, please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms170023.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156285.aspx Regards, Bin Long TechNet Subscriber Supportin forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tnmff@microsoft.com Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
