Very simple I have a tablix with one row group and one column group. I clicked on the detail cell and added a total column and rendered the report. So far so good. Now I add a filter to the column group. The report renders the Total column without consideration for the filter. Limiting the scope of the total by specifying the column group name does not work as the total column is not within that group, which I guess is the root of the problem. Total columns therefore are limited in usefulness. Any bright ideas?

Hi Colin, In the Expression Scope for Totals, Aggregates, and Built-in Collections (Report Builder and SSRS) MSDN document, it states that Data regions Specifies data from the data region after data region filter and sort expressions are applied. Group filters are not used when calculating aggregates for data regions. So a data item filter works with an aggregate but a group filter will not. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
