SSRS 2008 subreport export to excel shrink
Hi - I have a a subreport in a list inside main report. the size of this subreport in the main report something like (1in x .05in). the subreport contains 3 textboxes and 1 table and the total body size is like 9in x 2in. Now when i run the main report and export it to excel, i got 1 row in excel with all data from 3 textboxes + 1 table inside it. and the row height is only at 18. QUESTION: is there a way to get the row height to grow to show all the data inside it? thank you very much

Hi Jib_Boston, According to your description, the row height was not increased when exporting to excel, right? Actually, the row height will grow to accommodate a long text automatically in exporting to excel. If cells are merged, word-wrap does not work correctly. If any merged cells exist on a row where a text box is rendered with the AutoSize property, word-wrap and auto-height will not work correctly when exporting to Excel. I suspect that this is the root cause of your scenario. As this behavior is a limitation in Excel rendering. Currently, I’m afraid we can only use non-merged cell in the row if you want to get the row height grow automatically. For more information about exporting to excel, please see the article: Exporting to Microsoft Excel : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159836.aspx If you have any question, please feel free to ask. Hi Eileen - i read the article but still couldn't figure it out. I also try it with new report that only has 1 text box in the body with long string (t's, no new line). The PDF showed all lines (about 30 lines) But excel row height only showed only 9 lines. what do you think? thanks you

Hi Jib_Boston, I have tried on my test environment and found the same issue as yours. The PDF renderer is a physical page renderer and, therefore, has pagination behavior that differs from other renderers such as Excel, exporting to excel is different from exporting to PDF. The behavior you have got is by design at present. Additionally, if you have any concern about this, please submit a feedback at http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope Microsoft improve this feature in the next service pack or product release. Thanks for your understanding. Thanks, Eileen
