SSRS 2008 data-bound image not displaying
I have SSRS 2008 deployed and a report that contains an MIME type image image/jpeg. The image is a image data type field from the database. The report runs and displays the image correctly on pc's running IE 9 but not IE 8.

Hi phbella, Since the image shows correctly on IE 9, it is to make sure that the RDL file has gone along all right. Then, the problem will be IE 8 configuration. To troubleshoot this issue, please follow these steps: · Clear temporary internet files of IE 8 1. Start Internet Explorer 8. 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. On the General tab, click Delete under Browsing History. 4. In the Delete Browsing History dialog box, click to clear all of the check boxes except for the Temporary Internet Files check box, and then click Delete. 5. Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box. · Verify that the Show Pictures option has not been turned off 1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 2. Click the Advanced tab, and then verify that the Show Pictures check box is selected under Multimedia. 3. Click OK. · Make sure you have the latest updates for Internet Explorer from Windows Update · Make sure you have your content not set to block these sorts of pictures Quit Internet Explorer, if it is running. Click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box, type Regedit, and then press ENTER. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif Double-click the Content Type value in the right pane of the Registry Editor. In the Edit String dialog box, type image/gif in the Value Data box, and then click OK. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg Double-click the Content Type value in the right pane of the Registry Editor. In the Edit String dialog box, type image/jpg in the Value Data box, and then click OK. Quit the Registry Editor. Start Internet Explorer and open any Web page with a JPG or a GIF image. Lola, I tried all the steps outlined above, but still no luck. I don't think it's a problem with IE8 displaying a regular image, I've imbedded a straight jpg file into the report and it displays fine. I think the issue is with the conversion SSRS does to display a database image. To get a database image to display, I dropped an image into a table in VS, then used the MIME type jpg to display it. If I right click the image in IE9 and go to properties, it says the image is file type AXD. When I check the same thing in IE8, it says Not Available, so it seems that there's something in how the browser reads the string created by VS/SSRS. Thanks for the response. Peter

Hi phbella, As I have test, the database images show correctly on IE9 and IE8 on my computer. So, to determine the point caused the problem, could you help me to confirm take the following information: · Did you install the IE 9 and IE 8 on the same computer? If not, please install IE 9 on the particular computer with IE 8. And then, open the report with IE 9 on that computer. If the image cannot display correctly, it might be the .net framework issue. Could you please update the version of the .net framework installed. · Make sure to set Compatibility View of IE8 Thanks, Lola Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help.

Hi Lola, I have the same issue as phbella with IE8 , with IE9 all works fine. The problem is that customer needs to work with Windows XP , for which IE 9 is not available yet. I've done all mentioned above and i have Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.0.30319 installed on the Windows server 2008 R2 64-bit. As I looked through the Internet there is no official release for update of Microsoft .NET Framework to the newer version. Can you please help me with this problem? UPD: I installed on the server Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.5.50131 Beta / 4.0.30319.1 Final - but also no luck. I experience this issue with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 , if it can be useful somehow. BR, Valeriya
