SSRS 2008 R2 charting bookmark error.
I have a report converted from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2008 R2. This report has a summary chart summing up sales by Department on the 1st page and then on the following pages it has a table with 1 Grouping based on Department followed by individual sales details. The 1st Top-Left Cell in my "department" group header has a BookMark property set to "=Fields!Department.Value". Then in my chart my Series -> Action property has "Go to bookmark" selected and a "Select bookmark" value of "=Fields!Department.Value". This should allow the user to click on a "Department" in the chart and have the report jump to that "Department" Grouping and details within the report. This was working perfectly fine in SSRS 2005. In SSRS 2008 R2 when I preview the report and click on a "Department" in the chart it hangs for a moment before giving the following error: An error occured during local report processing. An attempt was made to move the position before the beginning of the stream. What the heck does this mean??? Nothing on Google about it... and I am at a loss. :-(

Hi Scott, I did a test based on your description. However, the report still works fine after upgraded to Reporting Services 2008 R2. Since it doesn’t work for your report, I need to confirm some details of the report. In my testing, I added a column chart, and then specified the Department field to the series fields area and specified the SalesAmount field to the data fields area of the chart. To set the action, I followed the steps below: 1. Right click the SalesAmount field in the data fields area of the chart, select Properties. 2. Select the Action tab. 3. Select Jump to bookmark, and specify the expression like =Fields!Department.Value. 4. Click OK. After that, I can click the columns in the chart to jump to the bookmark. Since this still works fine after upgraded, if what I did is different from your approach, please point out, and also post the chart type you are using and the steps to set the action. Then, I will test again and assist you to resolve the issue.
