SSRS 2008 R2 Report Builder and IE9
IE9 is not able to access Report Builder giving an error to the use basically that they need to install .Net 3.5 which is already installed on the machine. I've already found out the issue, apparently IE9 needs to run in compatibility mode and then it can access Report Builder. The problem is this is a customer facing site and having to tell every user about this is definitely not a good solution. Is there a way to set the SSRS site to force compatibility mode or even IE 8 mode through the config files (web.config, ect)?

So nothing? There's no way around this issue other than having end users set their browser compatibility mode?

Hi Dereksg, Based on your scenario, I suggest that add the report manager URL to the Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) Compatibility View website list. Please refer to the steps below: Open IE9, and open the report manager. Click Tools in the toolbar, and click Compatibility View settings.Add the site to the list. You can also check the Display intranet sites in Compatibility View option. In this way, it is no need to add the report manager site to the list manually. I appreciate the response, however that will only change the compatibility for my own browser. Like mentioned in the post this is a client facing site so this would have to be done for all our clients. That's more of a work around unfortunately and I was looking for something that would force clients IE to the mode instead of having all our clients manually doing this.

Hi Dereksg, Thanks for your posting. Here, I suggest that you try to update your Reporting Services with SQL Server 2008 R2 in your test environment. You can get the SQL Server versions information from the link below: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Builds If the issue persists, I am afraid that your clients have to run IE9 in compatibility view mode to access the Report Builder. Personally, I recommend you submit your suggestion to the Microsoft Connect at http://connect.microsoft.com/. Your feedback is valuable for Microsoft to improve products and increase the level of service provided. Thanks for your understanding. Regards, Mike Yin
