SSRS 2008 R2 - Sharepoint integrated mode - subscriptions.
Hi All, Is there a way to run a subscription without user configuring the time settings. What I mean to say is there a way to make an option available to run the subscription "NOW", so that each time a user does not have to go and set the time for an existing subscrption at the time they intend to run it. In my case client wants a history of users running a report. So I have a sharepoint document library set up and everyone runs the report subscription to dump the report output in that SharePoint document library. In this way when an entry is created in that library information like who ran that report and what time is available and the report output format as well. And the report itself contains on the first page the parameters details. So in this way users are able to get hold of complete report history. Can somebody please guide on this as it is definitely not sophisticated to enter time settings each time? Thanks and Regards, Pulkit Ojha

Pulkit, Do you mean that you want to manually execute the subscriptions on-demand? If so, you can manually execute the corresponding SQL Agent job manually. Thanks Charles for replying. I have my reporting services in SharePoint Integrated mode. Users run the report using subscriptions on demand. So for the first time a user would have to create a new subscription and configure sharepoint doc library details (where the subscription would submit the report output), then set export format excel, pdf etc, then set paramters and lastly time and date (which for the first time would be today's date) when to run. And then clicking on OK would run the subscription. Next time when user has to run (say for example next day), he would change the paramters if required and change the time adjusting it to run at a certain time. This would run the report again. So that is cool. NOTE: User run the subscription using "Run Once" option in Set Schedule section of the subscription. So my question is, everytime user has to go and feed the time (they have to check the time somewhere) and specially date (when user tries to run the report next day), because time and date values are retained from the last run details. So is there a way to make something available like run NOW to avoid the above steps. At my client place they were using Crystal enterprise to run their crystal reports (which now I have helped them to migrate to SSRS) where they use to run the reports using schedules (equivalent to subscriptions in SSRS), feed the paramters if they need to change from default and hit the run now buttong which would run and submit the output somewhere. So they just had to change the paramters and need not bother about time and date at all which can be frustrating fro user's point of view. Hopefully I was able to explain. Thanks, Pulkit Ojha

Pulkit, To implement the "Run now" function, you can add a link to your report. If the end user click the link, he will be directed to your report with real-time data. Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help

Hi Charles, That I guess you are saying about the normal way of running a report. But in my case I have SSRS in SharePoint integrated mode and to preserve the history of report, I am running it through a subscription which then produces the report output file in desired document library. So this all okay. It is just that each time smeone has to run a subscription the time and date has to be changed. So was wondering if there is any possiblity of customizing that. Also can report manager site pages can be customize and is it a good practice? If yes then how? Waiting for your inputs. Thanks, Pulkit Ojha
