SSRS 2008 R2 - Query builder freezes and needs to be shut down Report Builder 3 when attempting query exactly on 3rd time.
Hi, In SSRS, using Report Builder 3.0 (SSRS R2), after choosing a Report Model as the report's embedded data source, launched "Query Deisinger…" from GUI to build data source in report. First 2 attempts to run query underlying data source (Oracle back-end), are successful, but exactly on 3rd click application freezes to the point and overall Report Builder application needs to be forcibly shut-down from task manager. This system freeze has occurred when referencing tables containing a very small number of records as well as larger data sets. I checked from 4-5 different workstations and still getting the same problem all the time. Suspect that application freezing may be caused by timing-out of connection to back-end database. but I am not sure. Any suggestion to solve this issue? Thanks Environment - Distributed deployment Server1(report_srv) --Windows server 2003R2 64bit, Installed sql server 2008R2 reporting service, configuration tools Server2 (report_db_srv) --windows server 2003r2 64bit, sql server 2005 for report server database

We are seeing the same issue on one server which is also a 2003 Server running 2008R2. Using the same model on a server running 2008 Server OS, the problem is not there. No solutions yet.

Microsoft - can you please investigate/respond to this - it is definitely a bug that needs to be fixed - we are feeling the pain. What is the timing of the SQL Server 2008 R2 service pack? Our scenario happens with the backend database that is referenced by the report model is SQL Server 2008 on windows server 2003.

I am also having similar issues. We just upgraded to ssrs 2008 r2. We also upgraded our SharePoint to 2008 r2. Working on a number of MDX .rdls, when excecuting a query within the query designer, the designer just freezes and has to be shut down via task manager. Microsoft - Have you been able to confirm that an issue exists?
