SSRS 2008 R2: Data Retreival Failed for Subreport...
Greetings, I am using SSRS 2008 R2 and am getting this error (Data Retreival Failed for Subreport...) when attempting to run a report containing a subreport. This same report contains other subreports that work just fine. I have checked and rechecked to parameter names etc, have deleted and readded the subreport to the main report and have already seen this link about the cumulative fix ( http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/842a30fd-23cd-478c-8390-61e1e6d2a9e7 ) that doesnt end up applying to 2008 R2. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, the error message indicates to "check the log files" for more info. What log files and where do I view them? Best regards, Todd

Hi Todd, Thanks for your question, after the in-deep research, I reproduce your issue, I think you might make use of Shared dataset in your subreport, if that is the case, you will receive such error, this might be a known issue, I install the latest Cumulative Updates SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Cumulative Update #6 (build 10.50.1765), which does not solve the issue, so it is my pleasure to help you reflect it to the proper department. Currently, since this issue might be urgent to your business, I would recommend you contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist you in a more efficient manner. However contacting phone support will be a charged call. but it will be free if this is a product issue. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS Thanks for your understanding. If I misunderstand you ,please feel free to let me know. Regards, Challen Fu

To work around the issue you could create a embeded dataset on your report, which could avoid this issue. If you have to make use of this shared dataset , I would recommend you contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist you in a more efficient manner.
