SSRS 2008 Excel export issue
When I export reports from SSRS 2008 to Excel, everything looks perfect but when I copy cells from that exported worksheet into a new workbook, the color scheme gets messed up. Borders, backgrounds and fonts coloring changes, kind of like reverse video but not exactly. I run Excel 2007 so it might be due to compatibility issues since the exported Excel is in 2003 format. There are two workarounds that I know of: (1) Either copy and paste just values and number formats or (2) Paste special as "XML Spreadsheet". They work for me but my reporting users are sometimes confused and frustrated. Does anyone know if there are already solutions to this problem or if there are plans from MS to address it in an update for SSRS 2008? Thanks.

Hi, Did you apply the SP1 on your SQL Server 2008? I can copy the formated cells into another new workbook, and the formating is fine as the old ones'. Additionally, my MS 2007 excel also upgraded to SP2. This link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=66ab3dbb-bf3e-4f46-9559-ccc6a4f9dc19&displaylang=en for SQL Server 2008 sp1. Please let me know if you have more question. thanks, Jerry

Jerry,Sorry I wasn't able to reply sooner. We have MS 2007 Excel upgraded to SP2 but we still have the issue. It must be due to the fact that we don't have SP1 for SSRS. I will see if our IT department can upgrade to SP1 but for now, it seems that I have to live with the workarounds. Thanks for your response.Vince
