SSRS 2008R2 Forms Authentication - service won't start: rshost ERROR: Error in managed ServiceMain, error=0x8007000b
I implemented a forms authentication solution based on the MSDN sample. However, when I attempt to start the reporting services service either via Services or the RS Config tool, I get the following error in the reporting services logfile:
rshost!rshost!b04!04/12/2011-22:37:21:: e ERROR: Error in managed ServiceMain, error=0x8007000b
I have not been able to find any information around this error. Please help!!

With which account are you running Reporting Services, domain account or buildin? Check this by - start - run - services.msc (Log On As)

If your service is running under domain account, you can try to add that domain account as an local admin and also assign it Log on as a service permission in local security policy, then try to start it again.

Hi Ursshula,
The service was set to logon as the Local Service account. I changed that to Network Service, and to my own account. I granted the Logon as a service permission, but still got the same result. Do you have any ideas? Short of installing / reinstalling
SSRS on the machine?
Thanks for your help!

Hi, I ussaly use Local System for implementing SSRS on my workstation.
If you have server it should be running under domain user account, I got some problems with starting SQL service, if the account was domain user account and was in format of domain\user instead of user@domain. I didn't notice this with SSRS.
Sorry run out of ideas :(
