SSRS 2008, Group by , Export to excel Duplicate Rows
I have a report in SSRS 2008, in which we are grouping the rows by a combination of 3 columns ( Dept ID, Sales Rep Name, Activity Recruiter) reports works great in Visual Studio and every where. But when we export the report to Excel we are getting one more extra row apart from the expected number of rows. I am not sure how I can attach the attachment for better understanding ...if some one wants to have a look at the screenshot pls let me know I will pass the same....

Hi, This is by design. There is a workaround to fix the report. We can refer to the following steps: 1. Choose the second column and right-click, 2. Insert a column to left, 3. Copy the cell from the first column and delete the first column. When I export the report to an Excel file, the result is: Thanks, Ai-Hua QiuAi-hua Qiu[MSFT] MSDN Community Support | Feedback to us Get or Request Code Sample from Microsoft Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.

Hi Ashwar hussain, I understand your meaning completely. According to Microsoft, the goal when exporting to excel is to match the visual appearance of the report as close as possible. The excel output may have unexpected things like extra rows or columns or merged cells as part of the process to match the layout. To work around the issue, you could add a parent group header when you create the first parent group(GroupByDeptIdRecruiterSalesRep), then you will not have this duplicated total row at the back of group, but there is a header at the parent group, so this is just a workaround not a grace solution, thanks for your understanding. I have attach designed report at email. Hope this help you. Currently, since this issue might be urgent to your business, you could also contact Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist you in a more efficient manner. However contacting phone support will be a charged call. but it will be free if this is a product issue. To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;PHONENUMBERS Regards, Challen Fu Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
